When you’re staying in an RV, you have very little room for a washing machine and a dryer. But these creature comforts are nice to have especially compared to using a laundromat or the park’s laundry room.
Fortunately, you can get an all-in-one machine that does both the washing and the drying. And while you might lose out on some storage space by installing a combo washer and dryer you keep an additional flat surface that you can use a for meal prep, or for keeping important items at hand.
Another problem when you’re staying in an RV is that there’s usually no ventilation for a washer dryer combo. It’s generally not advisable to drill holes in your RV. But not to worry – there is a way around that. You can get a ventless model! And the performance of ventless washer dryer combinations is on a par with their stand-alone counterparts.
There are several ventless combo models available on the market today and to help you narrow down your choice on which one is the right one for you, I’ll show you my top picks and provide a handy buying guide at the end that goes through everything you might want to think about before you buy a combination washer dryer for your RV.

The SoloRock 24″ 2.7 cb.ft. High Capacity Ventless Washer Dryer Combo, despite being a relatively new release has already made its way onto Amazon’s bestseller list for the category.

That’s more than 3 times that of one of the other washer dryers in my top picks. And more than most standard washers too! And better yet, it comes in at a fraction of the price of the other models.

The Splendide WDC7100XC Washer-Dryer Combo is a great washer dryer combo! It has a large wash capacity and offers 10 wash and 3 dry programs that you can customize as you see fit.
It has loads of features to minimize energy and water usage. There’s an Auto Water/Energy Control system that automatically adjusts the amount of water and energy for each load. And this improved energy efficiency system means you get less vibration and noise.
You can save even further on operation costs because the machine is so easy to maintain – any lint gets passed safely through a self-cleaning pump and then out of the drain.
It’ll even help lessen ironing too, not that most of use have an iron with us in our RV. But at least your clothes will look crisp as if you have put the effort in due to Splendide’s impulse spin technology. This varies the pulse in a low spin which means less wrinkling and less wear on clothes too.
It dries quite quickly for a washer dryer combo, and even the maximum dry time is just 80 minutes. The wash time can be quick too if you use the express wash feature, which can wash lightly soiled garments and press them in no time.
I love that this machine has such a long warranty (5 years) – you just know it’s going to be a product you can rely on.

This machine has won awards for design and energy-efficiency. And no wonder – it has smart sensors that save water, so you only use the water you need.
It dries a lot faster than most washer dryers, thanks to its use of two fans which can halve the drying time. And the clothes don’t get wrinkled from over-drying.
It runs fairly quietly too, you’ll have no problem hearing a conversation over the sound.

The Kenmore Elite Combination Washer/Dryer has 14 different wash settings and 5 dry settings. But you can make several adjustments to them. You can select the wash temperature, spin speed, and soil level.
It also uses special sensors that send data to the control panel to help estimate the time remaining based on your chosen options and cycle.
It’s more energy-efficient than many washer dryers because of it’s Cold Clean feature, which uses cold water to clean garments just as effectively as if you were using warm water! Save on energy and save on bills!
It has an amazing steam treat facility that tackles most stains using the deep-cleaning power of steam before you set the clothes for a full wash. Which is a great feature if you have kids or happen to always spill coffee on your white shirt like me.
It also uses the power of steam in its special allergen cycle, which removes over 95% of household allergens from your laundry.
The Stay fresh button is really handy, it tumbles the clothes intermittently and circulates fresh air through to help the clothes stay wrinkle-free. That means less ironing or in my case, less wearing wrinkled clothes.

If you’ve already decided that you’re going to get yourself a ventless Washer Dryer Combo for your RV, I think it’s a great idea and is way more convient than that alternatives like laundromats, hand washing and campground laundry facilities.
But I’ll level with you here, a ventless Washer Dryer Combo costs a pretty penny, often more than what you spend if you bought a washer and dryer separately. However, after the initial big spend, you should save on the long term operational costs.
So choosing the right washer dryer combo is a big decision to be taken seriously. But my buying guide will help with that. I’ll start by outlining what you should look out for in your machine, and then I’ll tackle some of your most frequently asked questions.
Dimensions & Capacity
In an RV, space is at a premium, so you may be thinking that the smaller the machine is, the better. However, the dimensions of the washer dryer and the amount of clothes it can wash and/or dry at any one time are like two sides of the same coin. The more compact the machine, the less the capacity of clothes it can wash and dry.
Furthermore, to dry the clothes in a ventless machine, remember that you need room for the air to circulate, which further decreases the amount of clothes you can dry at a time.
Ultimately you will have to weigh up how much space you have available and how much clothes you will need to wash and dry at any one time and buy accordingly.
The majority of campgrounds you go to will provide you with an external 120-volt electric source to plug into. So it’s important to note if your washer dryer combo meets this requirement since you won’t be able to run the machine if it requires a higher voltage.
A front-load set up is a better choice than a top load. Top load models will soak the clothes in water throughout the whole wash. Whereas with front-load models, the drum tilts on its side, and consequently the clothes get lifted in and out of the water.
So with a front-load version not only do you get better access but you also get more efficient washing to boot. All of the washer dryer combos in my top picks are front loading.
The good news is that ventless washer dryer combos are really energy-efficient, and they typically consume about 30% less energy than traditional models. So just by choosing this type of machine, you’re already on your way to leaving a small carbon footprint.
For the maximum possible energy efficiency, you can look out for machines that are Energy Star certified, since this means that they have fulfilled the minimum standard for both energy efficiency and water consumption.
In my view, the product’s warranty is well worth a mention here. When spending so much money on a big-ticket item, you need to be assured that you will get your money’s worth out of it. And with washer dryer combos being such a frequently used machine, you can bet that it will get some wear. Having a long warranty on the machine is a good indicator of the machine’s quality, and of how long a lifespan you can expect to get from it.
Washer Dryer Combo Frequently Asked Questions
Do combination washer-dryers work as well as separate machines?
Unfortunately, combination washer-dryer machines do not work as well as having two separate machines. The washing aspect of these combos does in fact work well but the drying tends to be less efficient and takes longer.
How long does it take to wash and dry my clothes in a washer/dryer combo?
It will vary depending on the unit, the size of the load, and the type of garments and fabrics. Generally, a wash cycle will take anywhere from 30 min to 1.5 hours, but it will depend on the cycle selected.
For drying time in a non-vented washer/dryer combo, it can take anywhere from 45-180 minutes to dry a load. As I mention this will very much depend on the size of the load and the type of fabric.
Why should I buy a combo washer/dryer for my RV?
If you are tired of using laundromats or campground laundry facilities and especially if you are a full time RVer then having a washer/dryer in your rig will make life much easier.
A ventless combination unit will be your best bet in a motorhome or trailer due to their small size and lack of venting required. This makes it easier to install since no holes need to be drilled for a vent and the voltage required is usually 120V, the max in an RV.
